Coming Home is an installation of hand drawn, screen printed, and stuffed fabric furniture pieces originally constructed for an exhibition at the Philadelphia International Airport.  Each of the life-sized furniture pieces were based on artist Kay Healy’s interviews of four Philadelphians as they described their childhood homes.

The four interviewees, Leroy, Peggy, Kim, and Frank, come from different neighborhoods, time periods, and cultural backgrounds, but each have vivid memories of their childhood homes.  Healy is interested in how objects can tell stories and that something as mundane as a plastic salad spinner can embody memories of people, events, and periods of one’s life.
